I'm currently designing sounds for a computer-game, and I need to design the sound of the universe collapsing (or exploding/imploding if you will), but I'm not sure what to imagine it sounding like.

What do you guys think the total annihilation of the universe would sound like?

inward dimensional imploding of spirit rocks..... no big deal, right? i feel there would be a moment of horribly eerie silence

Yes, silence is the right choice. Just a few Scifi-Movies are using silence and this is the right amount of depression.

The sound of air rushing, loud at first, getting quieter and ending in a pop.

Tune your instrument to A=432 hz. Then a long sustained C chord, layer it up. the sustain gets louder louder, with more layers, more octave, what ever chaos you want in there, build it up to the suggestion of climax, then just before the climax CUT IT! silence
