So, potential serious problem guys...

Talk about whatever is on your mind.

Those are the times i'd concentrate on my live gear...working on synths/pads.. Without the mindset of making a song.. Maybe scout out some new samples, or take the time to sample some movies i've been meaning to. Or maybe open up a super old project i never finished.
Just like the Moon, i too would never turn my back on this world.

No, i was thinking if you guys ever get in times without inspiratonal juice?
You play your music game and just can't get none you like...? What do you do?

I use those times to brush up on my Soul Calibur skills! [biggrin] But, I also listen to a shit load of music and try to figure out what I'm doing right, what I'm doing wrong, and why I haven't just given up already. After a couple of days, weeks, or most recently months I usually have an "Ah HA!" moment and write a new tune.

Times of creative drought are also good times to start focusing on the more "boring" aspects of music production like proper mixing strategies or reading your DAW's user manul and trying to learn how to use everything that your DAW has to offer. Doing this, you can often come across effects and instruments you never thought of using or ideas that make you think "Damn, I wonder how that would sound in one of MY tracks" or "I wonder how I can use this in a new and innovative way". This leads to experimentation, and experimentation leads to new tracks!

Or, just a ton of unfinished ones in my case... [blush]

We talked a bit about this here >> viewtopic.php?f=3&t=105

For me, it's mainly about expressing inner feelings, so I guess "refresh" your mood by goin' out, see friends, or just watch a sky or a river for some hours can do the trick :p

what about making a track about the fact you're bored... [biggrin]

I always express my feelings in singing now, and I even NEED to sing when I want to express my feelings... I've made an accapella for/about my daughter when I was missing her too much. Now we sing it together, it's cute.

You forgot to quote: go on our fav' forum and release your thoughts out ^.^

I usually go for months of creativity overload and then a month or more of none. Like, zero. I usually listen to almost no music when I'm creative and when I'm having down time I listen to tons of it. And also video games. Or I play sheet music n shit. I just absorb rather than put-out. [drinks]

This is my way to live my life. :D And it is important to accept a period of doing nothing with your music.
